From the Commodore you have ready access to the attractions of the Canterbury region and the majestic beauty of New Zealand’s South Island.
Cruise into Christchurch’s CBD to check out the delightful boutiques you won’t find anywhere else, or contemplate the stunning artworks at the Christchurch Art Gallery. For a spot of exercise, stroll through the beautiful botanic gardens, run through Hagley Park (featuring a 6 kilometre perimeter), or get the heart pumping with a climb up the Port Hills.
The Russley Championship Golf Course is adjacent to the hotel and within a quarter hour’s drive there are six other golf courses and two driving ranges. The award winning International Antarctic Centre is just down the road from the hotel.
Orana Wildlife park, Willowbank, and Southern Encounter Aquarium and Kiwi House are all within 15 minutes of the hotel and are great places to take the family.
The Christchurch Casino operates a courtesy shuttle to and from the hotel from 6pm daily, and we are a short distance to Addington Raceway and Riccarton Park Racecourse.
Make sure you collect your complimentary bus pass from reception for hassle free travel to and from Christchurch City, with The Metro Airport bus stopping at our front door.
If you head north of Christchurch you can enjoy whale watching in Kaikoura and the thermal pools at Hanmer Springs. Or sample the wines of Waipara and other Canterbury vineyards with a wine tour. For a great day out travel to the quaint French settlement of Akaroa on the south side of Banks Peninsula. Travel west across the plains and you’ll meet the Southern Alps with a number of world class ski fields including Mt Hutt.
